Many people long to be offered the opportunity to Work From Home either for their current employer or by becoming self-employed. Not surprisingly, there can be some understandable barriers to this but these are falling in number as modern work practices evolve. Lots of firms now portray themselves as an Internet Business or offer the capacity to sell online. It is becoming clear that online businesses could be able to make available some Online Jobs and this will possibly increase as technology advances.
From the beginning of time man has always had a requirement to work. For the prehistoric cave-dweller this work was purely to do with continuing to survive and consisted mainly of creating a safe dwelling and hunting for food for himself and his family. In essence this was the first Work From Home scenario as any journeys would only be to seek or build a new dwelling, either in a safer location or nearer to sources of food.
The advent of the wheel began to alter the world for ever. Indeed, many people would consider the wheel as the greatest invention in history due to the effect it has had on every feature of human life. The power to transport people and supplies easily has revolutionised the world throughout the generations since the wheel was originally used around 3500BC. It is widely accepted that industry benefitted greatly from the arrival of new methods of transport that could deliver goods to greater areas of the country. Means of transport and the commercial sector have advanced hand in hand over the centuries. The advent and quick development of rail travel in the early 19th century and air travel in the 20th century gave industry a huge boost.
As enterprises developed and grew they had a need for more staff to meet the greater demand for their products. Fortunately, the increase in the number of methods of transport helped to cure this potential predicament as people were able to travel greater distances to go to work due to the existence of public transport systems using trains, trams and buses and by using their own vehicles. More recently the increase in the rate of car ownership also proves how mobile staff have become. In 1961 less than one third of households owned a car but by 2009 this figure had risen to threequarters.
The amount of people working in the UK stood at twenty nine and a half million in January 2010. As a result, this newly mobile workforce is now experiencing problems as it strives to go to work every day. A dearth of investment by all recent governments and private companies has resulted in an inadequate public transport system in the UK with overloaded trains and underground services. Moreover, a congested road network requiring major refurbishment, a list of anti-car measures such as the congestion charge in London and regular increases in fuel duty have caused many car-owners to reconsider the merit of owning or using their vehicles.
To escape from this travel disaster, many workers would now prefer Work From Home and are beginning to wonder whether their jobs could become Online Jobs. It should not be difficult for any owner of an Internet Business who is making the most of modern technology to operate their business to adapt that technology to allow some staff to carry out some, if not all, of their Work From Home.
